The short answer
A typical house pipe-relining job may cost $3,000–$12,000 including GST, depending on the section, access and junctions. This indicative range was checked on 21 October 2026; CCTV assessment is needed to confirm whether relining is suitable and what the complete repair will involve.

Pipe relining, typical house job
$3,000–$12,000per job
Camera inspection, preparation, the agreed liner length and completion footage.
Allow separately: extensive junctions, collapsed sections and excavation outside the agreed scope.
CCTV drain inspection with high-pressure jetting
$450–$900per job
Camera inspection, jetting one accessible line and showing you the footage.
Allow separately: excavation, pipe repair and unusually long or complex drains.
What does pipe relining actually do?
For a suitable damaged drain, a resin-impregnated liner is positioned inside the cleaned existing pipe and hardened in place. It forms a new inner lining across the agreed repair section while retaining the original pipe route. Junctions must remain open and the completed section is inspected. Sydney Water’s relining overview illustrates the general approach; a private-property repair needs its own assessment and scope.
Relining is a repair to the pipe wall, not simply drain clearing. It cannot lift a sagging drain or restore the route of a badly collapsed pipe.
Why a per-metre price is not the total
A short repair still needs equipment, access, preparation and inspection. A price based only on length can omit setup, junction work, cleaning or difficult access. Compare the complete job total and the exact pipe section being repaired.
Panther’s pipe-relining service begins with the condition of the drain. A suitable existing pipe provides the shape for the liner. Severe collapse, unsuitable alignment or a badly sagging section can require a different solution.
What affects a relining quote?
| Quote item | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Length and diameter | The material and equipment must suit the affected section |
| Bends and junctions | Connections need to remain functional after the repair |
| Cleaning and preparation | Roots, deposits and obstructions can prevent a suitable installation |
| Access | A usable opening may avoid excavation, but access work is sometimes needed |
| Completion checks | The quote should explain how the repaired section will be inspected |
The camera-and-jetting range is shown as an investigation option. Do not add it to a relining quote automatically: preparation and inspection may already be included in the agreed repair total.

Relining or excavation?
Relining may reduce disturbance where an existing pipe is suitable and lies beneath a driveway, established garden or building. It does not correct every physical defect. Excavation can provide access to replace a collapsed section or alter unsuitable pipe alignment.
The comparison needs both plumbing work and the cost of restoring disturbed surfaces. Ask where excavation would occur, whether reinstatement is included and which parts of the original drain would remain. A larger relining quote is not necessarily worse value if it avoids substantial surface work; equally, a small accessible defect may suit a targeted replacement.
What evidence should support the recommendation?
Ask to see the relevant camera findings and have the affected length and location explained. The quote should identify the repair method, junctions, access work, preparation and completion inspection. Any warranty should be supplied in writing with its actual terms rather than assumed from a generic industry claim.
If the drain has only just blocked for the first time, clearing and investigation may be the appropriate first step. Repeated blockages make it more important to establish the underlying cause.
Planning the work
Tell us which fixtures use the drain, where access points are and whether you have previous footage or reports. Shared drains may need manager approval and a planned interruption to use. Send your drain details for an assessment of the options and a quote for the complete scope.
