The short answer
A compatible customer-supplied toilet installation is typically $350–$650, while a standard suite supplied and installed is around $650–$1,500. These indicative budgets include GST and were checked on 21 October 2026; altered drainage, premium suites and difficult access can cost more.

Repair the cistern or replace the toilet?
A running cistern, failed inlet valve or worn seal can often be assessed as a repair. A cracked pan, repeated faults, unavailable parts or an unsuitable suite may point towards replacement. Our toilet repair guide helps distinguish these problems.
Panther’s toilet plumbing service can assess the fault and explain the options before you buy a new suite. A blocked toilet may need drain clearing rather than a new toilet or cistern parts.

Check compatibility before buying
| Detail to confirm | Why it affects the job |
|---|---|
| Trap type and set-out | The new pan needs to match the existing waste connection |
| Water inlet position | A concealed or relocated inlet can require extra plumbing |
| Floor condition | Removal can reveal damage or expose an unmatching tile outline |
| Suite design | Wall-hung and concealed-cistern systems involve different access and support |
“Like-for-like” means compatible connections, not merely a similar colour or shape. Send the product specification and photos of the existing suite before ordering a customer-supplied model.
What should installation include?
The quote should name the suite or state that you are supplying it. It should cover removal, fitting, connection and testing, with disposal explicitly confirmed. The guide bands do not assume that drain relocation, tiling, structural work or premium fittings are included.
The repair, installation-only and supply-and-install rows are alternative scopes. Do not add the installation-only figure to a supply-and-install quote. If you supply the product, clarify who handles a damaged or incompatible item and any resulting return visit.
When the budget needs to change
Moving a toilet changes more than the visible pan. The waste route, floor or slab access and water point may need alteration. A concealed cistern can need an access opening for repair. Older fixings and pipework can also affect how the old suite is removed.
For a wider renovation, compare the bathroom plumbing budget, which separates the plumbing work from waterproofing, tiling and building work.
Requesting a quote
Send front and side photos, the water connection, the proposed product details and the suburb. Describe whether the toilet is running, leaking, blocked or simply being replaced. Avoid using a cracked or overflowing toilet and call if wastewater is backing up. Enquire about your toilet work to confirm the appropriate scope.
